Wie schmeckt Tomatin Whisky? Der Single Malt der Tomatin Distillery ist ein milder und fruchtiger Whisky. Entgegen dem Klischee der würzigen Highland Whiskys, bezeichnet sich Tomatin selbst als “The softer side of the Highlands”. Der nicht rauchige Spirit von Tomatin reift vorwiegend in Ex-Bourbon- und Ex-Sherryfässern. Aus Bourbonfässern zieht er sich Aromen von Honig und Karamell. Aus den Sherryfässern kommen feine Nussnoten und dunkle Fruchtnoten hinzu. Ein schönes Beispiel ist der Tomatin 12 Jahre. Die leicht rauchige Variante von Tomatin heißt Cù Bòcan. Die 1897 gegründete Destillerie liegt etwa eine halbe Stunde von der schottischen Stadt Inverness entfernt.
