Wie schmeckt Bowmore Whisky? Der Single Malt von Bowmore ist ein typischer Islay Whisky. Das Gerstenmalz wird bei Bowmore zum Teil noch vor Ort im eigenen Kiln über Torffeuer getrocknet. So gelangen die wunderbaren Aromen von Lagerfeuer und Barbecue in den Whisky. In Bourbonfässern reift Bowmore zu einer Melange von salzig-maritimen Aromen, trockenen Getreidenoten und aschigem Rauch. Ein Beispiel ist der Bowmore 15 Jahre Golden & Elegant. Bowmore Single Malts machen sich besonders gut in Sherryfässern, wie der Bowmore 10 Jahre Dark & Intense oder Bowmore 15 Jahre Sherry Finish. Hier entfaltet die Islay Brennerei ein Aromenfest von Datteln im Speckmantel, Marmelade und Strandlagerfeuer. Mit steigendem Alter kommen Aromen von Leder und Tabak hinzu. Die 1779 gegründete Bowmore Distillery ist die älteste Whisky Brennerei auf der Insel Islay und eine der ältesten Schottlands. Sie liegt im gleichnamigen Küstenort Bowmore direkt am Meer.
