Wie schmeckt Mortlach Whisky? Die Mortlach Distillery hat einen der komplexesten Brennereicharaktere Schottlands. Im äußerst komplizierten 2,81-fachen Destillationsverfahren entsteht ein enorm schwerer, fleischiger Brand. Dieser verträgt sich besonders gut mit Sherryfässern, in denen Mortlach zu einem wuchtigen und tiefgründigen Single Malt reift. Der schwere Körper mit schwefeligen Noten verbindet sich in Sherryfässern zu tropischen Früchten, poliertem Leder und süßen Marmeladennoten. Auch Grillfleisch und Barbecue-Aromen findest Du oft in Mortlach, wenngleich der Speyside Single Malt nicht rauchig ist. Ein Paradebeispiel ist der Mortlach 15 Jahre von Gordon & MacPhail. Die Mortlach Brennerei wurde schon 1823 in Dufftown gegründet über 60 Jahre vor seinem späteren Nachbar Glenfiddich. Koste unbedingt einmal Mortlach!
